IGIS Asset Management is South Korea’s largest real estate asset manager, with over $45bn of assets under management globally. IGIS Europe is the firm’s London based investment platform, responsible for sourcing and underwriting real estate opportunities across the UK and Europe. We asked Jason Seo, who works in the investment team, how Pantera has changed the way they review a deal.
How did you first come across Pantera?
We were introduced to Pantera through a sharing link that a counterparty sent us for a live deal. The way the investment was presented immediately stood out. The assumptions, cash flows and outputs were all clearly laid out, and it was very easy to understand how the numbers were being driven.
At the time, our team was actively exploring how AI enabled tools could help us analyse deals more effectively, so Pantera quickly caught our attention.
What challenges were you facing before using Pantera?
Before Pantera, reviewing deals often meant spending a lot of time trying to understand someone else’s model. Even when the analysis was good, it could be difficult to quickly validate assumptions or see how changes flowed through the cash flow and returns. Changing assumptions is also difficult and time consuming, given the size and complexity of some Excel files.
This made both internal reviews and external discussions slower than they needed to be. A lot of effort went into checking the mechanics of the model, rather than focusing on whether the underlying assumptions actually made sense.
What has Pantera helped you achieve?
Pantera has helped us to review deals more confidently and efficiently. The structure of the platform makes assumptions very clear, which means we can quickly sense check inputs and understand what is really driving the outputs.
Instead of questioning whether the model is correct, we can focus on whether we agree with the assumptions.
We found this shift is valuable. It saves time and improves the quality of discussion around investment decisions.
How does Pantera fit into your wider workflow?
The ability to share a live deal link has been especially powerful. It allows everyone involved to look at the same assumptions and outputs, in real time, without version control issues or misunderstandings.
This level of transparency makes collaboration much easier and supports a more disciplined, assumption driven investment process. It also aligns well with our broader goal of using modern, AI enabled tools to raise the standard of our analysis.
